I’m so excited for you to be here.

I’m Carole and I am passionate about flowers, and hang on, yes I know that all florists say that but trust me, this is the absolute truth.

Let me get straight to the point, I love designing installations that are natural and just a bit quirky. I revel in harnessing the natural beauty of flowers, holding on to their wildness and the bringing of the unrestrained beauty of the outside inside.

Studio based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, I work with couples who dream of individuality, who seek memorable wedding flowers with soul. Wild, romantic, nature-inspired, seasonal designs, everything that tells your story!

Nothing gets me more excited than hearing all of your amazing ideas, which in turn starts us on a magical journey together of discovery through to the actual event where everything is brought to life with the beauty of flowers and foliage.

Marquee weddings, country houses, urban spaces, country barns, secret elopements – I love them all –  transforming spaces with beautiful flowers is my forte, but be prepared to expect the unexpected!

My flowery journey

The abridged version of my route to being a florist goes something like this:

I left school and worked in a bank but left after my daughter had become ill and then went to work for the NHS. I continued to train in admin, management, and business and continued to develop all my office based skills. I eventually reached the top of my game and was the Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive in a NHS Trust.

During my corporate working years my daughters went down the dancing, singing, performing arts route which brought out my creative side but when this all stopped for college and university I was left with a gap and needed to find the one ”thing” that really fulfilled me. So I went to help out in a florist shop in exchange for tuition (I was the oldest Saturday girl ever!).  Can you guess where this is heading?

Yep, you guessed it I left the corporate world behind me to start up my own floristry business.

So, in 2013 Wickham & Taylor was born and since then my journey has taken different directions and seen my style grow organically.  I have met so many frustrated brides to be who have grown tired of the precise, traditional arrangements and who wanted something different, something truly living, something just a little “untamed”.

Now, what more can I tell you about me?

Well, when I am not creating beautiful florals, you can normally find me at our allotments, digging, weeding, planting etc. This is my place of peace and tranquility.

I have a labradoodle called Buffy who is with me constantly. I don’t know who gets the separation issues most, her or me!

I love shoes, particularly vintage and quirky ones. My favourites are Ruby Shoo and Irregular Choice. Although you normally see me in wellies or Converse for comfort!

I still like to sew as a hobby but I’m not quite ready for the Great British Sewing Bee and probably never will be!

My dream is to live in a country cottage (preferably Yorkshire!) with a small holding where I can grow flowers and perhaps have more dogs!

People ask which one of Wickham & Taylor I am…I’m both! Wickham is my married name, Taylor was my maiden name.

So, that was a quick insight into who I am but the best way to find out more is to have a chat. I look forward to hearing from you!
